Caring for a loved one with dementia, or any illness for that matter, is no easy road to travel. Thrown in at the 'deep end' Susan had on-the-job training which led to creating information sessions for carers of the elderly and terminally ill.

In a series of short pieces, 'A Special Place' relates a carer's journey, reflection on the journey, Alzheimer's SA and Carer Association information as well as carer tips. Susan's insightful sayings are included throughout the book.

Susan's father, Merv, was a gentle man with a great big heart and even bigger hugs. This book spans their final four and a half years together.

Beginning her career as storyteller and puppeteer in 1978, Susan is a great believer in partaking of substantial doses of the arts for healing and peace.
